And I thought Domain Transfer was easy!

In theory transferring a domain from provider A to provider B is actually very easy, in the case of the .net domain the one I have been transferring, you simply unlock the domain, change the tags to provider B and gain a EPP key from provider A which you then submit to provider B in a usually automated process.

I couple of months ago I did this transfer for a client and it was as smooth as anything, everything went very well indeed.

Currently though I am having a very difficult transfer between the provider A (who we shall only refer to as a black dog) and my current host. My current host are blameless in there is only a limit to what they can do if provider A doesn’t want to play properly!

So far provider A have had rejected my domain transfer requests twice, both times apologising and blaming “technical error” fortunately I have ample time before the domain expires, but in the online world where the process is heavily automated it shouldn’t take this long! I received a 3rd email from the black dog today saying that they will now have to do the process “manually”. The entire process is now dragging on into its 3rd week and I’m really far from impressed – fortunately I am leaving the black dog ISP for good having previously moved everything from any hosting I had with them to other places.
